The newly elected “Politician of Music”, a.k.a., “Prez-E-dent” set to release his debut track “We Smokin” from the new album “New WOrld Industry” on Whitehouse Entertainment Group.

Washington, D.C. (Billboard Publicity Wire) June 11, 2007 — The game is about to change. But this time, for real. The politician of music, Whitehouse Entertainment artis, Prez-E-dent, is dropping the new debut single “We Smokin” from the debut project New World Industry. This artists music steers clear of the typical, sugarcoated hip-hop lyrics served up by many of his contemporaries. He has gained a reputation for delivering a harder-edged political and revolutionary style. Prez-E-dent says, “I want people to listen, not just to the melody, but to the message. Im a politician of music, and with music there are no limitations to my speaking the truth.” Under the moniker 20×20, Prez-E-dent toured with Onyz, Bones, Thugs and Harmony and Fat Joe among others, but now hes making his own way, making his own rules

Influenced by music from Tupac and Bob Marley, Prez-E-dent says, “There was something about those artists that just blew my mind.” He adds, “A ghetto passport isnt the only component a rapper needs to become successful — and as far as gaining street cred because youre not out of Brooklyn, Im not telling you Im gonna shoot you or kill you but I am gonna let you know how Im going to destroy you lyrically. Music is mans universal system of communication, especially in the minority communities. My message is to show people there is help. Words can hurt or heal. I give myself and my words as a sacrifice.”

Prez-E-dent, aka 20×20, was born Samuel Joffre Payne in Chicago, IL. He was relocated to Washington, D.C. soon thereafter. The eldest of five siblings, the aspiring artist began rapping and rhyming at age 13. Recalls the new Prez-E-dent, “I was a loner and from the age of 13 so I basically raised myself. Running the streets hard, it was only a matter of time before it caught up with him. With a firm chokehold on him, even though he was bubbling on the streets as one of the illest M.C.s around, it wasnt enough to keep him out of jail. Fortunately, his talents had not gone unnoticed. He landed a recording contract with Relativity who delivered his papers to him while he was still on the inside. His single, “Gotta Be Like That,” was a commercial smash and the label moved up production on his album. Under the moniker 20×20 toured with Onyz, Bones, Thugs and Harmony and Fat Joe among others. Bad management dogging his project however and Prez-E-dent became increasingly frustrated with the politics that burdened the industry. He decided to hit the streets one last time in order to pay back his $100k advance, and became one of the first rappers to own the rights to his own masters. “I owe them nothing,” he says. Prez-E-dent is a rapper who possesses limitless charisma and powerful lyrical skills. His performances are as animated as they are riveting and he commands a verbal arsenal aimed straight at hip hops jugular.
